At World In Need we aim to meet the needs
of poverty-stricken people around the world,
to love the needy in their suffering and
to earn the right to teach and train others.
We aim to encourage strategic involvement
in reaching poverty-stricken people in an
integrated way, equipping individuals, businesses
and local people worldwide to empower the
poor and reach others, creating self-sustaining
communities.
To achieve these aims we provide for:
Immediate physical needs by sending
emergency relief supplies, providing food
and shelter for orphans and poor families
and providing medical supplies and basic
health care.
Continuing physical needs through
post-war reconstruction, providing education,
dealing with AIDS and substance abuse, encouraging
income generation rather than dependence
and providing funds for workers and administration.
Emotional needs such as the severe
trauma brought on by war and violence, the
lack of love and care, cultural and religious
oppression and substance abuse ? often the
result of a low self-esteem.
Social needs including personal
relationships. Many groups lack mutual trust,
resulting in social upheaval. Social and
cultural education is needed to promote
social trust and local communities need
support to respond to social needs.
Training, including the provision
of workshops for cultural and religious
understanding, for life skills, for practical
skills for job creation and for management
solutions.
Networks, needed for cross-cultural
understanding, for support, information,
trade and logistics.
